Lean Meals Review - UPDATED May 2017
Improving your health through diet requires a lot of hard work. All the ingredients you use need to be of high quality and combined into balanced meals with just the right amount of macronutrients. The food should be free from empty calories and unnecessary substances, such as preservatives. The cooking process should also be limited to methods that do not introduce excess fat or eliminate the valuable nutrients. It often seems like you need to be a professional nutritionist in order to do all the necessary calculations and make sure your body is getting everything it needs for optimal functioning.
Lean Meals is a meal delivery service that offers to do all of this work for you. They cook healthy meals made of fresh ingredients, with optimal macronutrient content and low calorie count. You can choose the meals you like from their selection, pick one of their meal plans that are designed to help you achieve your health and fitness goals or create a plan of your own.

What Makes Lean Meals Different
As we found out while writing this Lean Meals review, ordering from Lean Meals has several rather awesome perks.
Most importantly, unlike many other meal delivery services, they never freeze their meals, because they believe that it defeats the purpose of sending out fresh food. Instead, they select only the best, freshest ingredients and ship the meals in special, microwaveable containers put in an insulated box with ice packs, which guarantees that the food will arrive fresh and last seven days in the fridge. However, since they focus on providing extremely healthy food, they do not use any preservatives. This is why it is imperative to put the meals in the refrigerator as soon as they arrive. If you are not able to pick them up at the time of the delivery, they recommend that you ask someone to do it for you and refrigerate them immediately, in order to preserve optimal freshness.
What is also cool about Lean Meals is that they have a rewards program. That means that by creating a Lean Meals account, following and sharing them on social networks and referring your friends, you receive reward points, which can be exchanged for coupons. With the coupons, you can get $5, $10, $25, $50 or $100 discount on your orders, depending on how many reward points you accumulate. For example, to get a $5 off coupon, you will need 500 reward points, while 15 000 reward points qualify you for a $100 off coupon. The highest number of reward points is gained when refering a friend, which brings you 1000 points. With each dollar spent on meals, you get 1 reward point. In order to show that they care and treat their customers as family, they give you a present on your birthday – 100 reward points.
Another great option offered by Lean Meals is the opportunity to build your own meals. You get to choose the desired source of proteins, carbs and veggies from provided lists of available ingredients. You also get to choose the portion size (4 – 10 oz of protein-packed food, ½ – 2 cups of veggies and 2 – 8 oz of carbs). Once you choose the ingredients and portion sizes, you get detailed information on the number of calories and protein, fat and carb content of each of the three elements of your meal. Each meal can be complemented by a 1 oz side of dipping sauce, which is made fresh with all meals.
Meals and Recipes
When ordering from Lean Meals, you get to choose from a wide variety of meals, with 30 unique dishes waiting for you every week. By clicking on a meal in the Select Meals section, you can read a short and sweet description of the dish and view the information on the amount of calories, carbs, protein and fat it contains. Their selection of meals is divided into four sections: signature meals, breakfast, gluten-free meals and custom meals you get to create on your own, in accordance with your preferences.
They also offer three meal plans: Lean Weight Loss Plan, Lean Fitness Plan and Lean Performance Plan.
Lean Weight Loss Plan
The weight loss plan includes low-carb meals that are based on lean proteins and contain 325-425 calories on average. You can choose whether you wish to have 10 (5 lunches and 5 dinner entrees), 14 (7 lunches and 7 dinner entrees) or 21 (7 breakfasts, 7 lunches and 7 dinner entrees) meals delivered. You can also change or edit meals in your cart. If the option you chose does not include breakfasts, you can add them from the breakfast segment of their menu. The plan is gluten-free and diabetic friendly.
Lean Fitness Plan
The fitness plan includes meals that contain 375-500 calories. The meals are packed with lean proteins, veggies and complex carbs, in order to help you maintain your fitness level. Just like the weight loss plan, it allows you to choose between ordering 10, 14 or 21 meals, plus 5% discount for subscriptions.
Lean Performance Plan
The performance plan is designed to promote muscle building and contains 550-calorie to 650-calorie meals filled with essential nutrients, pure complex carbohydrates and lean proteins. It is important to note that this plan is not suitable for losing weight. The ordering options are the same as in the two previous plans.
The prices of meals at Lean Meals can best be described as moderate. Their signature meals come at $8.95 and $9.95. All breakfasts cost $7.95, while the prices of gluten-free meals range from $7.95 to $8.95. The prices of custom meals depend on your choice of ingredients, starting at $8.95.
Lean Meals is available in the entire continental US. The deliveries are made through Fed Ex and you can customize your delivery times directly with them. Lean Meals ships the food on Mondays and Wednesdays. If the meals you received are damaged, just send them a photo of the damaged goods and they will be happy to replace them on your next order for free. However, keep in mind that only the meals that are entirely open and the contents are outside of the original tray are considered damaged.
