Uncorked Ventures Review - UPDATED Aug 2017
Uncorked Ventures wine club was founded in 2010 as a family business. Two brothers-in-law were unsatisfied with their jobs and decided to follow their passion. Later on, one of them changed his path, but the other, Mark Aselstine, remained devoted to Uncorked Ventures and made a serious business out of his love for wine.
The company’s seat is in California and they distribute wines exclusively from Oregon, Washington, and California. Mark tastes the wines himself and pays vintners a visit in order to find out everything about the wine before sending it to the customers of Uncorked Ventures. While we were doing research for this Uncorked Ventures review, we found out that Mark Aselstine isn’t just the owner of Uncorked Ventures, he’s also the company’s wine taster, blog writer, and even customer support representative. Every web page of Uncorked Ventures’ website sounds very personal and you can feel that Mark is truly devoted to his company.
Wine Selection & Quality
Members of Uncorked Ventures wine club get an opportunity to taste some of the most highly-ranked wines from the West Coast. Mark Aselstine visits vineyards in California, Oregon, and Washington in quest of the finest vintages.
There are three wine clubs at Uncorked Ventures and each of them provides first-class wines for their members.
Explorations Wine Club
This is a wine club for all of you who’d like to explore the world of fine wines and discover something new. Members of Explorations Wine Club receive 2 bottles of wine monthly, bi-monthly or quarterly. Every shipment contains a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine – unless you want to receive two reds or two whites. As a member of Explorations Wine Club, you can taste marvelous wines like Chardonnay from Sonoma vineyards or Cabernet Sauvignon from Santa Barbara.
Special Selections Wine Club
Special Selections Wine Club offers 2 or 3 bottles of excellent West Coast red wines delivered to your home every month, every other month or every third month. You can get some of the well-known vintages like Napa Valley Cabernet or Sonoma Coast Pinot, for instance. Moreover, you might be delivered a gem like Paso Robles Carignan which can’t be found in shops or a boutique red wine from small production lots.
Reserve Selections Wine Club
If you want to taste the real treasures of the West Coast wine world, this is a club for you. Superb red and white wines from Oregon, California, and Washington can be delivered to your doorstep each month, every other month or quarterly. Your box from Reserve Selections Wine Club includes 3 bottles of premium wines. Some of the wines come from incredibly small productions, like Kinero Cellars Grenache 2014 (only 47 cases were produced).
What Makes Uncorked Ventures Different
This family-owned business gives you a feeling that the company genuinely cares about their customers. Mark Aselstine, the owner, is involved in almost every step of the process of delivering phenomenal West Coast wines to your home. He tastes the wines, he makes the selection, he writes newsletters and blogs, he even packs the bottles and answers customers’ emails. What makes Uncorked Ventures different is honest devotion to wines and a true dedication to the members of this wine club.
In addition, incredibly comprehensive newsletters written by Mark are delivered to customers in every shipment. These newsletters provide information about the wines in the selection and why they’re the best choice. Both newsletters and Mark’s blogs on the website are very informative and can help you learn more about wines.
There isn’t a better way to show someone how much they mean to you than to treat them with a bottle of premium wine. Or two. Or a regular monthly delivery of a couple of limited edition wines.
Uncorked Ventures offer two gift options, but more gift ideas are coming soon. For now, you can send someone a gift basket or purchase gift membership for one of the Uncorked Ventures wine clubs.
We’ve already mentioned the wine clubs in this Uncorked Ventures review, so we can focus on the gift baskets now. There are 3 types of gift baskets you can send as a gift: gourmet gift basket, chocolate gift basket, and corporate gift basket. All baskets contain local products because Mark Aselstine gives priority to local producers and small companies.
Gourmet Gift Basket
Gourmet gift baskets include one or two bottles of wine, according to your choice. You can also specify which wines you’d like to send or which types you’d prefer to avoid. Besides the wine, there are gourmet products from the West Coast. The basket contains a bottle of balsamic vinegar, olive oil, a jar of seasonal jam, mustard, and an artisan chocolate from San Francisco.
Chocolate Gift Basket
The chocolate gift basket is a perfect combination of top-notch wine and, of course, chocolate. You can choose the wines and you can also decide whether the basket should contain one or two bottles. As the name of the basket suggests, it also contains locally produced chocolate. Mark Aselstine made a selection of delicious chocolates including TCHO chocolate sampler, sea salted caramels, truffles and a bar of absinthe dark milk chocolate from Endorfin Foods.
Corporate Gift Basket
For all companies that would like to send a majestic gift and promote themselves along the way, there are corporate gift baskets. The logo of your company can be printed on the basket and you can fill the basket with gifts of your choice. However, Mark asks for the gifts to be locally produced because he wants artisan businesses to find their way to customers.
With Uncorked Ventures, shipping is free, but state taxes are added to your bill when you place your order. Without the taxes, one shipment for members of the Exploration Wine Club is $55 for two bottles of wine, no matter whether they’re two reds, two whites or one red and one white. Two red wines from the Special Selections Wine Club are a bit more expensive, amounting to $115. In the end, there’s the Reserve Selections Wine Club that offers you top-quality wines at the price of $225 per shipment.
Uncorked Ventures offer exceptional customer support. What more can we say about a company whose owner also offers support to customers via phone, email or website? Customer support isn’t available 24/7, which is the industry standard.
